Crook Clinton’s other businessesNo Comments

Clinton owns or feigns ownership for several businesses:
1. Clinton Gallimore
2. -c-
3. Essential Bath and Galley
4. The Tile People
5. Phuse apparel
6. Gallimore productions

He may not have scammed people out of all of these companies, but we wary when doing business with him that some of these businesses are funded by scams perpetrated against customers of The Tile People and Essential Bath and Galley.

He had been given fair chance to atone for his deeds. We pulled down our posts about Clinton subject to his refund of moneys collected for services never rendered. This money was never returned and amid other reports of scam victims, we have resurrected these blogs. If you are involved, or at all sympathetic, please link to this blog. Reference the keywords for his business above when linking to us.

Although legal action is in the works, the best cure is prevention. Get the word out.

JRuby on Rails — Websphere Blues1 Comment

I built a horridly simple application to test out running Rails on JRuby. It is nothing more than a single resource with a handful of fields using the generator for resource scaffolding. It runs brilliantly within the Netbeans 6 daily build, and even deployed flawlessly into Tomcat. But I had some issues when deploying it to Websphere 6 (running on a Virtuozzo environment)

These weren’t the issues you’d expect - The index page came up fine and showed the data. But creating a new entry resulted in all blank values saved to the database. Attempting to update or destroy fields would bounce me to the default 404 page. Routing errors were showing up in the logs where it was trying to route to an action named “2″.

Is it possible that something in WAS is mucking with the RESTful routing?

I will test some more with a non-RESTful routes to confirm.

Clinton Gallimore, why are you so naughty?1 Comment

At my friend’s request, I pulled down my blog post, because your sensitivities were offended when the top three entries for your name in google have something to do with you being a crook. Apparently, you were supposed to return his money.

Well, apparently you haven’t returned his money. So you are still a crook. Expect a backlash soon my friend, it’s coming…

JRuby for the EnterpriseNo Comments

I’ve been pleased to learn at RailsConf that through Jruby, it is has been made possible to deploy RoR applications as WAR files. I also learned that there are companies already doing this (Starbucks was one large company I heard mentioned). Vonage indicated that they are moving in that direction as they integrate and migrate their legacy applications.

Funny how JavaEE is now “legacy”.

GTD setup that worksNo Comments

I’ve been using David Allen’s Getting Thing’s Done for about 7-8 months now. It has taken some time to find the idea setup for an IT professional.

One of my challenges is that I wanted something that worked both from the home and office without having to copy files. I wanted integration (at some level) with Outlook and finally a good system of tracking “Waiting Ons”.

The winning tool is .. My Life Organized. It handles concepts like contexts in addition to being able to set recurring tasks. You can drag and drop email or tasks from Outlook and it will not create a task, but will create a hyperlink to your email.

Finally, by using WebDAV, I’m able to keep my data files saved in a remote location that can be accessed from both home and at work.

Another useful tool has been Speedfiler from Claritude Software. It allows you to quickly file emails w/ a shortcut key and rapid search for the correct folder. Part of GTD is being able to store reference material away in a trusted system. Outlook handles folders fine, but having to drag and drop through many many folders becomes very tedious. Like most IT professionals, you’re subject to hundreds of emails a day. Being able to quickly delete, file or turn them into tasks is the key to staying on top of things.
